Drake speaks on His Part in Lil Wayne vs. Jay-Z feud and being dissed by Pusha T

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

In the days before Tha Carter IV was released, fans were floored by "It's Good." The track features Jadakiss and Drake rapping tough-guy lyrics. After their verses, Lil Wayne closes the song. His verse contains disses aimed at Jay-Z in response to his "baby money" diss aimed at Birdman on "H.A.M."

During his interview with Funkmaster Flex, Drake discussed the song, in-depth. Previously, Drake stated he had no parts in the diss on Jay-Z. But, with Flex, Drake admitted he heard the song before it leaked. However, he said all he did was rap his verse over the beat and then Lil Wayne did his verse.

Drake went on to say he is a soldier for Lil Wayne and respects his comments about him. Speaking on the "It's Good track," he said Lil Wayne did what he had to do. Still, Drake said he has nothing but love and respect for Jay-Z. Drake discussed how "H.A.M." was directed at Birdman, and credited Jay-Z as his mentor and Wayne as his brother, separating himself from the situation.

There is a potential situation between Drake and Pusha T. Recently, Pusha T mentioned Drake on his new track, "Don't Fuck with Me." Many feel Pusha T dissed Drake on the song. After listening to the song, several times, Drake said he could not find the diss. Because he has never met Pusha T, Drake said if he did diss him, it is an internal problem with Pusha and not his problem. Drake went on to say he is a fan of The Clipse and said if Pusha T was calling him out, he should make it more direct next time.

While Drake says he is up for whatever, he was not offended by the track.

50 Cent vs. Lupe Fiasco feud?

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Even during his days as a mixtape rapper, 50 Cent was known as one of hip hop's biggest forces. In 2003, 50 Cent released his commercial debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin', which was laced with disses aimed at Ja Rule. At the time, Ja Rule was the biggest rapper in the game, 50 Cent took that role.

On his second album, The Massacre, 50 Cent moved on from his feud with Ja Rule. While he still dissed his foe, 50 Cent began dissing Fat Joe, Jadakiss, and Nas. Because of this, Game, then a member of G-Unit, separated himself from 50 Cent. This led to a feud between the label-mates.

50 Cent sparked a feud with Cam'ron before the release of his third album, Curtis. At the same time, 50 Cent found common ground with Jadakiss. It has become clear what 50 Cent does when it is time for him to release a new album. 50 boasted of how he may decide to release a new album this year.

For his new "Street King" movement, 50 Cent has been releasing a new track every day. While the movement is for a worthy cause, 50 Cent took shots at Lupe Fiasco. After being out of the limelight for four years, Lupe Fiasco returned with his chart-topping album, Lasers. The album solidified Lupe Fiasco as the new socially-concious figure in hip hop. For the most part, Lupe Fiasco has stayed away from beef, but he had a minor tiff with Soulja Boy last December.

With 50 Cent apparently taking shots during a time when beef is more of a joke than a true competition, will Lupe Fiasco respond to 50 Cent, or will be invite him to dinner?

Album Review: Styles P - "Master of Ceremonies"

By Hardcore Critic
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

While fans continue to wait on The L.O.X. to release a new album, the members are solo, once again. Yesterday, Styles P released his fourth studio album, Master of Ceremonies. The album is a follow-up to his 2007 album, Super Gangster: Extraordinary Gentleman.

Fresh off the mixtape scene, Styles P enters Master of Ceremonies poised and confident. Teaming with Avery Storm for "How I Fly," the opening track off the album, Styles P flows over a track many owuld never expect him to touch.

Brilliant wordplay and versatility keep Styles P ahead of the game on Master of Ceremonies. Switching from gangster to gentleman is something Styles P masters on his new album. Not many rappers in the game have the ability to switch their styles and still manage to be convincing. While Styles P has a number of collaborations on Master of Ceremonies, the show is never stolen from Styles P.

Master of Ceremonies provides several street anthems and is a classic Styles P album. But, it is clear P has grown as a lyricist, and an overall artist, on his new album. Styles P also unites with the L.O.X. family on two tracks, "Street Shit," with Sheek Louch, and "It's OK" with Jadakiss. Sadly, Styles P did not deliver on a true L.O.X. anthem on the album.

Still, Master of Ceremonies is a must-have album, the first true hardcore, gritty, album of 2011. For those who wanted the "street shit," Styles P truly provides this, with a touch of gentleman sprinkled throughout the album.

Lil Wayne explains feud with Jay-Z

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Before his career reached its current level, Lil Wayne tried to challenge Jay-Z. During the 2006-2007 period, Lil Wayne released several Jay-Z diss songs. All of these tracks were ignored by Jay-Z and he invited Lil Wayne to record on "Hello Brooklyn 2.0."

Lil Wayne returned the favor on "Mr. Carter," featuring Jay-Z, and sampling his line from "Lucky Me." In 2009, Jay-Z released his comeback, The Blueprint 3. He featured Drake, who had recently signed with Young Money.

Birdman had many negative things to say about Jay-Z, following the release of his comeback album. Among the things he said, Birdman continued to claim his camp had more money than Jay-Z. A response finally came from Jay-Z on "H.A.M." with his "baby money" diss.

Nearly nine months went by, without an official response from the Cash Money camp. Lil Wayne teamed up with Jadakiss and Drake for his "It's Good" track. On the song, all three rappers are talking about hardships and how they overcome them. Lil Wayne has the final verse on the song and he uses it as an outlet to respond to Jay-Z's "baby money" diss.

The diss turned heads and everyone has had something to say about it. Most rappers, including those signed to Cash Money, have said they want to see the beef. The reason many want the beef is because hip hop was established on competition. Recently, Lil Wayne fully addressed the Jay-Z diss and how he feels about the comments by outsiders.

Lil Wayne said there is no competition with rappers. According to the Young Money CEO, the gangsta rappers, skateboard rappers, and white rappers are all happy. Competition in hip hop died a long time ago, as Lil Wayne feels. Lil Wayne went on to say competition died with "them old ass rappers." Now, says the ever-popular rapper, everyone is focused on making money and good music.

When asked about dissing Jay-Z, Lil Wayne said it is all in how a person interprets what he said. Wayne said he knows he will never be upset by a person's reaction to anything he says. Because of this, Lil Wayne says what he wants to. Lil Wayne said every man has to face the consequences of what they do and he also said he knows there will not be any for his "It's Good" song.

Ten Years Later, The September 11 attacks, and it's Impact on Today's World

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

In the late 1990s, people were afraid of the end of the world. With the new millennium right around the corner, experts were afraid the computers may shut down. If the computers were to shut down, the entire world would completely stop.

However, 2000 entered and business went on as usual and the fear slowly evaporated. The danger would not come until a year later. On the morning of September 11, 2001, many people's worst nightmares came true. An airplane went barrelling right into one of the Twin Towers.

Initially, the pedestrians assumed it was nothing more than a freak, yet tragic, accident. Seconds later, another airplane crashed into the other tower. It was then when all the major media outlets reported that the United States was under attack. In 225 years, there had never been an attack on American soil until then.

Hours later, a third attack came, hitting the Pentagon in Washington, DC, with another plane intended to hit the White House. For years following the attack, the United States was in fear. The attacks, which were led by terrorist Al Queda leader, Osama Bin Laden, had a lasting effect on American citizens. Ten years ago, today, many people lost loved ones who were either in the towers or in the planes. While the attacks did instill fear, it also united the United States for the first time in decades.

When everyone feared for the safety of the United States of America, politics were placed to the side and everyone worked together. There were bigger problems in the world and everyone came together to help someone in need. Osama Bin Laden conducted several threats in the following years through video messages, which were shown on the news. It was the September 11 attacks that eventually led to the infamous War on Terrorism.

Ten years later, a number of things have changed, but America has not forgotten. Osama Bin Laden was captured and killed earlier this year. A major weight was lifted off many United States citizens then.

While the decision was made not to rebuild the Twin Towers, a memorial is in the works in the same spot. The Pentagon, as pictured to the right, has been reconstructed. Most importantly, America has moved on, focusing on bigger things.

Many of the young adults and the teenagers who are just beginning to experience the world were very young when the September 11 attacks took place. However, for those who remember, they not only have a story to tell their own children, they also witnessed how America can come together in tough times. To this day, the September 11 attacks are shaping our culture. Several artists, most-notably, Kanye West, have trouble boarding commercial airplanes because of the metal plate in his chin.

Security at airports is very tight and this has had negative effects on rappers for years. The attacks have also shaped lyrics in songs. Three years after the attacks, Jadakiss released his "Why" song, in which he asks several questions, including the infamous "why did Bush (George W. Bush) knock down the towers?" That statement led to Jadakiss' song gaining publicity from Fox News, CNN, and other mass media outlets. It also led to the GOP demanding an apology, or arrest of the rapper.

Among other hip hop artists to blame George W. Bush for the attacks were Eminem. Jay-Z, who released his critically-acclaimed The Blueprint on the day of the attacks, rapped about the attacks on his following album, The Blueprint 2. Jay-Z said something to the effect of "not even Bin Laden could stop him." Also, on his "Blueprint 2" diss towards Nas, Jay-Z raps about helping out during the Columbine shooting and donating proceeds of his concert tickets to the victims of September 11.

In the post-September 11 world, Westside Connection has released an album called Terrorist Threats and dealt with the media backlash. Now, ten years following the attack, there is a new president in office and the world has moved on. While moving on, each year, September 11 is remembered and Americans come together to remember one of the worst days in United States history.

"Tha Carter IV" sells 300,000 copies via iTunes, New Record

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

When Lil Wayne finally prepared to release Tha Carter IV, everyone knew it was going to top the charts. The question was by how much and if Wayne could top Tha Carter III. Along the way, a number of fireworks have been sparked.

Days before the release of Tha Carter IV, "It's Good" leaked, featuring Jadakiss and Drake. Lil Wayne rapped the final verse of the song. In his verse, Lil Wayne dissed Jay-Z, responding to his "baby money" diss on "H.A.M."

Hip hop fans have been wondering what would happen next between Lil Wayne and Jay-Z. More than likely, Jay-Z will not entertain the feud. However, Lil Wayne has managed to beat Jay-Z in the numbers game. In only four days of being available, Tha Carter IV has already sold 300,000 copies, becoming an iTunes record.

With this, the projections of the album have boosted again, now the album is projected to sell nearly 1 million copies in its first week. Previously, the iTunes record was held by Jay-Z and Kanye West with their new album, Watch the Throne. In a mere two weeks, their album has been topped by Lil Wayne's latest opus.

Bow Wow wants Jay-Z to respond to Lil Wayne

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

When Lil Wayne dissed Jay-Z on "It's Good," it shocked several artists. The ones shocked included the rappers who shared the track. Jadakiss immediately denied any involvement in the diss, as did Drake. Most artists associated with Lil Wayne have tried to stay away from the situation.

Bow Wow, however, gave his opinion on the feud. For two years, Bow Wow has been signed to Cash Money Records. Unlike everyone else, Bow Wow does not see the situation between Lil Wayne and Jay-Z as a beef. Instead, Bow Wow feels it is a verbal exchange.

As a fan, Bow Wow said a Lil Wayne/Jay-Z exchange would benefit hip hop and the artists involved.  With Lil Wayne and Jay-Z being considered two of the best, Bow Wow feels a challenge will elevate both rappers' lyrical game. Since battle rap has been around just as long as hip hop, Bow Wow does not see why Lil Wayne and Jay-Z should not go at it.

Bow Wow went on to compare their possible feud to sports.

Jadakiss staying out of Lil Wayne/Jay-Z beef

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Having been away from the game for a little while, Jadakiss finds himself in the middle of hip hop's biggest headline. The Yonkers rapper recently provided a verse on Lil Wayne's "It's Good." The song was recorded for Tha Carter IV. In the song, all the rappers talked tough, but Lil Wayne went as far as dissing Jay-Z.

Ever since the release of The Blueprint 3, Birdman has been trying to challenge Jay-Z. When talking about Hov, Birdman often tries comparing him to Lil Wayne. After topping the Forbes list, Birdman stated he had more money than Jay-Z. As one of the original "money rappers," Jay-Z took shots at the Cash Money crew.

While Jadakiss was featured on Lil Wayne's diss record, he is making it clear he has nothing to do with it. On Twitter, Jadakiss angrily denied having any involvement in the feud. Jadakiss said the people need to stop it because he has no issues with Jay-Z. In 2007, Jay-Z signed him to Roc-A-Fella Records, however two years passed before he released an album with the label.

Lil Wayne goes after Jay-Z on "It's Good" track [AUDIO]

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

In less than a week, Tha Carter IV will be here and it will not be a repeat of 2008's Tha Carter III. In the time before Lil Wayne released his triple platinum album, he had been baiting Jay-Z. While he wanted a high-profile beef, instead he landed a high-profile collaboration.

One of the highlights of Tha Carter III was the passing of the torch from Jay-Z and Lil Wayne. Their song was called "Mr. Carter" and it has gained legendary status. However, following their collaborations, there have not been many Jay-Z/Lil Wayne interactions. Instead, there have been light disses.

Birdman has been calling Jay-Z out ever since the release of his comeback album, The Blueprint 3. When the album won awards for "Album of the Year," Birdman questioned why Wayne's 2008 opus was not nominated. Earlier this year, Birdman also called Jay-Z out on his money. Jay-Z replied to Birdman's disses with his infamous "baby money" line.

Weeks after the diss, Birdman said he would continue to spend his "baby money," as he had spent $1 million on a new car, at the time. Now, Lil Wayne has decided to address the situation. Recently, he established his own clothing line, named after his first 2010 album, Rebirth. On his Jadakiss and Drake-assisted track, Wayne goes at Jay-Z, subliminally threatening Beyonce's safety on the track. Aside from Wayne's diss, the collaborators also talk greasy, without taking shots, however.
